ABSTRACT
Student Success in the Prescribing Safety Assessment (PSA) is designed specifically to meet the professional development needs of the PSA candidates as well as the prescribing competencies outlined by the General Medical Council. This chapter presents answers to 13 questions that are related to medicines, surgery, elderly care, paediatrics, psychiatry, obstetrics and gynaecology, and general practice in the context of calculation skills. These answers enable the PSA candidates and other students or healthcare professionals to understand and learn the questioning techniques used during the assessment, to appreciate the principles used in clinical pharmacy and pharmaceutical care, and to overall, improve their ability to prescribe safely, effectively and cost- effectively.
