ABSTRACT

Major educational priorities from Australian,100 Canadian,101 US102-106 and UK107,108 reports were summarised in Chapter 3 along with some of the challenges of implementing changes. For these four countries, there appears to be consensus around a number of issues: the need for greater clarity of learning outcomes and more user-friendly curriculum syllabi or guidance, individualisation of learning, improved assessment tools and feedback, preventive medicine, along with better integration of interprofessionalism, technology, knowledge, science, humanities and clinical application, to name but a few. Most of these priorities are also congruent with the report Health Professionals for a New Century: transforming education to strengthen health systems in an interdependent world.56
