ABSTRACT

The essential vision The essence of communication is “the imparting or exchanging of

information” (Collins 2015). We can broadly define three primary types of

communication — personal, media and control communications, each of which

results in the exchange of information between people or systems. Personal

communication can be regarded as the exchange of information or perspective

with one or more people; media-type communication occurs when a system

exchanges content with a person or another system; and control-type

communication occurs when a person exchanges commands or information to/

from a device or system. A single communication session can be comprised

of more than one of these types.
