ABSTRACT

The essential vision For decades the evolution of network operations has been manifestly

slower than the growth in electronics and network technology, which

are largely driven by Moore’s Law. Network operations are comprised of

multiple dimensions: people, processes, platforms/tools and performance/

metrics, which we will collectively refer to as the “4Ps”. The coordination

and improvement of these dimensions is a complex undertaking with many

human factors that are notoriously slow to evolve; so it is little surprise that

the state of network operations lags far behind that of the technologically-

driven evolution of the network.
