ABSTRACT

The Society bases its teachings and practices on ancient Vedic texts of India, such as the Bhagavad Gita and the Srimad Bhagavatam, as taught by the Lord Himself, who appeared in East India about 500 years ago as Caitanya Mahaprabhu. Isvara paramah krsnah sac-cid-ananda-vigrahah, anadir adir govindah sarva-karana-karanam. “Govinda, Krishna is the cause of all causes. He is the primal cause and He is the very form of eternity, knowledge and bliss”. The temporary pleasures of the body do not satisfy the spiritual soul, who needs to be in touch with God to be happy. Although there are various Vaishnava traditions, all basically agree on the importance of chanting God’s holy names, most famously exemplified by the chanting of the Hare Krishna mantra: Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna, Hare Hare/Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare. Devotees prefer organic fresh vegetables and fruits.
