ABSTRACT

Asseeninthechaptersofthisbook,thediversityamongbacterialtoxinsreflectsan impressivevarietyofstrategiesbywhichpathogensinterferewithhostcellularprocesses. Bordetellapertussis,thegram-negativebacteriumthatcauseswhoopingcough(pertussis), producesatleastfivetoxins,allofwhichhavedistinctlydifferentstructuresandfunctions.
