ABSTRACT

Each material is accompanied by a written description of aspects connected with its composition and structure, synthesis and processing, characterisation and modelling, integration into devices or the main trends in current research, with a view to promoting the use of these materials in industry, particularly in health sciencerelated applications. Their most outstanding properties will be analysed in greater detail, as they open up fields of application where other intelligent materials would not lead to such appropriate solutions. It is important to point out that these magnetoactive materials have been grouped together in just one chapter as they do not yet have such a marked number of medical applications as those to which we have dedicated an entire chapter. Another reason is that they are all linked to magnetic phenomena.
