ABSTRACT

One-way analysis of variance (or ANOVA) is a statistical method used to model the relationship between an explanatory qualitative variable A with I categories (or levels) and a quantitative response variable Y . The main objective of the one-way analysis of variance is to compare the empirical means of Y for I levels of A. The one-way analysis of variance can therefore be considered an extension of the two-way comparison of means (see Worked Example 6.3).
