ABSTRACT

A mathematical model may be used to explain a system and to study the effects of different parameters on the same. More importantly, a mathematical model nds its application in making predictions about the behavior of the system. It is imperative to have a predicted outcome if a process is going to be scaled up from the laboratory to an industry. The quality of a mathematical model depends on how well theoretical predictions agree with the observations obtained from repeated experiments. In no case, must the disagreement between the theoretical values and experimental values be greater than 5%. If the disagreement is greater than 5%, the model is unsuitable and needs to be modied.
