ABSTRACT

Sensor web enablement (SWE) is one such standard developed by the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) for sharing, finding, and accessing sensors and their data across different applications. It is an infrastructure allowing users to easily share their sensor resources. It hides the underlying network communication details and heterogeneous sensor hardware from the applications built on top of it. Members of the SWE working group have specified interfaces, protocols, and data types that enable the integration of sensors and sensor webs into spatial information infrastructures [1].
