ABSTRACT
The lipid part of these glycolipids is generally formed of a diacylglycerol in bacteria and plants, and of a ceramide in animals. More complex glycolipids, the lipopolysaccharides, the glycopeptidolipids, and the phenolic glycolipids are also present in bacteria.
