ABSTRACT

Transport phenomena is concerned with the detailed analysis of momentum, heat, and mass transfer problems. Usually, the continuum description of matter is utilized and partial or ordinary differential equations are solved as a means of elucidating the behavior of natural phenomena or of phenomena occurring in chemical or related industrial processes. In this chapter, a generalized transport phenomena approach to problem analysis is introduced along with a description of the specific aspects of diffusion and mass transfer that are covered in this text.
