ABSTRACT
This chapter introduces the basic concepts and principles of computational modeling. These are: computational science, computational thinking, computational models, problem solving, and abstraction. An extremely simple problem is introduced and solved: the temperature conversion problem. A brief overview of selected MATLAB and Octave commands is included in order to explain the implementation of the solution to the problem discussed.
