ABSTRACT

A bleary-eyed man goes into his local coffee shop early one morning. He orders his coffee black and the waitress brings it over with some toast and jam. A few minutes later she returns, steaming coffee pot in hand, curious about a refi ll for him. “How’s the coffee taste this morning, Jack?” “It’s seven o’clock … the fi rst cup doesn’t have to taste, it just has to work. And yes, I’d like a refi ll.”
