ABSTRACT
Ultraviolet excimer lasers have recently become popular and are currently being used to process polymers. Due to their high speed and precise micro-machining abilities, excimer lasers find applications in the fields of semiconductor processing, optical communications and medicine, fields in which polymers find exten-
sive applications. The interaction of UV laser with polymers is quite complicated, and the mechanisms of UV laser ablation of polymers are not well understood.
