ABSTRACT

Abstract-The macrocyclic ligand cucurbit[6]uril is incorporated into a silica gel matrix using the common sol-gel technique. The distribution of cucurbit[6]uril in the silica gel is shown to be homogeneous. The porous structure of the matrix enables complex formation of cucurbit[6]uril with organic molecules. This composite is suitable for practical applications in analytical chemistry or for removal of organic pollutants from aqueous solutions.
