ABSTRACT
Copper alloys generally are not protected against corrosion phenomena using coatings because of the good corrosion resistance of copper itself in many natural environments. This is due to the surface patina formation [1]. Nevertheless, some localised corrosion processes can occur in specific aggressive environments, causing aesthetic problems or, in some cases, the failure of the component, as in the case of corrosion perforations in heat exchanger tubes.
