ABSTRACT

Abstract Superhydrophobic surfaces (SHSs) fabricated by electrochemical techniques have been reviewed. These SHSs are made from metals, metal oxides or hydroxides, or conducting polymers. The electrochemical methods involved in preparing the SHSs include electrodeposition, electrochemical etching, galvanic cell corrosion and electropolymerization. The details of SHS preparations as well as advantages and disadvantages of each process are discussed. In the end, a brief outlook of electrochemical techniques for SHSs is given.
