ABSTRACT
A total of 44 experiments were conducted, using small explosive charges to crater the materials of interest. Two types of tests were initially performed to provide a reference base; tests at normal gravity, to compare with the high-g tests in the centrifuge, and tests on flat terrain (i.e., flat surfaces) models of the different embankment materials, to compare with craters on the model embankments.
