ABSTRACT

Geotechnical Centrifuge modeling is an established technique for study of soil-structure interaction. The principles of the technique have been described by a number of authors (e.g. Taylor 1995). In essence a 1/Nth scale model is subjected to N times normal gravity (g) in a geotechnical centrifuge. Hence full-scale (‘prototype’) stresses are generated in the model, and soil in the model exhibits behaviour representative of the full-scale prototype.
