ABSTRACT
Several wrap-around reinforced sand slope models were built with the same geometry inside a strong box with the inside dimensions 400 by 400 mm in plan and 200 mm in height (Fig. 1). A transparent Plexiglas plate was used on one side of the box to enable side viewing of the models during the tests. Silicon oil and plastic wrap film was placed to minimize the side friction on the Plexiglas plate. Additionally, a grid pattern was printed on the Plexiglas plate in order to monitor the deformations developed on the models using digital images and Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) analysis.
