ABSTRACT
The system subsoil/retaining wall/backfill is influenced by numerous parameters even under plane strain conditions. The system was therefore simplified for modelling. The wall was designed having a vertical stem and horizontal toe and heel. All structural parts possessed a constant thickness and a very high stiffness in order to model rigid wall bahaviour. For reasons of construction, a constant base width was used.
