ABSTRACT

Research and development of thermoelectric materials were intensi›ed by the arms race between the United States and the Soviet Union in the 1950s. At the time, many telluride compounds, including BiTe and PbTe, as well as SiGe, were found, and the fundamentals of the study of thermoelectric materials were established. A¸er the end of the Cold War, research into consumer applications advanced mainly using BiTe.
