ABSTRACT

This chapter proposes a business-centric interaction model that helps explain the interactions among all participants involved in an organization's possible activities. It explores the potential fit of wireless and mobile technologies across a company's value chain through the citation of potential mobile and wireless business applications available. The chapter describes mobile business (m-Business) and presents a business-centric interaction model that helps explain the interactions among all participants involved in an organization's activities. The term mobile business incorporates m-Commerce activities which represent the transactions enabled by mobile technology. The chapter demonstrates the potential of mobile technologies technologies by exploring the impact of such technologies on the various components of the value chain and through citing extensive industry examples. It provides value-chain framework that can help managers employ new mobile technologies or assess the value and appropriateness of existing mobile applications, there are several areas for further investigation.
