ABSTRACT

In ionic polymerization processes propagating macroradicals have reactively charged groups at their ends. Understanding of ionic polymerization processes requires knowledge of the end group structure, which is rather problematic. Heterolytic bond break in the monomer molecule may be induced by various agents. If subdivision of these agents and active sites of chain propagation by functional features (initiators and propagating chains) and charge characteristics (cationic and anionic agents) are not taken into account, various forms and types of active sites may be presented as follows:
