In Ayurveda, A. vulgaris is source of snake-bite antidote drug “nagdaun”.2 In traditional herbal medicine, aerial parts of A. vulgaris are used as anthelmintic, antiseptic, antispasmodic, antidiabetic, antiepileptic and antidepressant.3 It is widely used in the Philippines for its antiinflammatory properties.4
