ABSTRACT

Defective Platelet Function Most patients with inherited disorders o f platelet function have normal platelet

counts. These patients present with signs o f platelet-type bleeding such as nose bleeds and easy bruisability. These patients tend to be only mildly symptomatic and may have excessive bleeding with trauma and surgery. Although many patients on evaluation will be identified with specific defects o f platelet aggregation, some pa tients will have a history of bleeding and a prolonged bleeding or PFA closure time but no identifiable defects.
