ABSTRACT
Antithrombotic therapy is used for two major purposes in the treatment of car diac disease. The first is the prevention of embolic disease and the other is for treat ment of ischemic heart disease (Table 20.1). Detailed antithrombotic management of percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI) is described in the antiplatelet chapter.
