Sepsis and Management Background Sepsis is a major cause of morbidity and mortality in the US with > 750,000
cases of severe sepsis reported annually. In the US > 500 patients die of sepsis daily The mortality from sepsis ranges between 28% and 50%. Sepsis is defined as a series of syndromes from SIRS to severe sepsis.
