INTRODUCTION
Effective intraoperative use o f a gamma probe requires familiarity with basic principles of radiation, radiation detection and radiation safety. Basic radiation terminology, radiation detection, gamma probe testing, proper gamma probe use, radiation safety and regulatory issues will be presented in this chapter.
