ABSTRACT

Giant cells are large multinucleated cells, usually histiocytes. Keratinocytes, nevus cells, or neoplastic cells may also become multinucleated. Most histiocytic giant cells are nonspecific, although some have a unique histology and accompany char acteristic diseases, such as the epithelial giant cells with characteristic nuclear inclu sions that are the histologic hallmark of Herpes infection.
