An understanding of the pathophysiology of this disorder accentuates the importance of proper early management.
Epilepsy is defined as a condition in which an individual is predisposed to recurrent seizures because of a central nervous system disorder.1 This chapter is limited to a discussion of the pathophysiology, clinical manifestations, and early management of status epilepticus.
