FIGURE 4.1 Typically, SSL/TLS is used when a web browser accesses a page containing sensitive information. The browser uses the Internet Domain Name Service (DNS) to find the webserver’s Internet Protocol (IP) address. It then communicates directly with the webserver, tunneling HTTP through SSL/TLS through TCP through the underlying IP protocol.
