ABSTRACT
Scabies is a parasitosis caused by Sarcoptes scabiei var. homirtis that occurs in 30-year cycles with up to 15 years between epidemics. It is characterized by its ease of transmission as well as by intense pruritus that increases at night. Although its origin goes back to ancient times, it does not seem to have existed in America before the Spanish Conquest.
