ABSTRACT

Epidemic disease caused by a arbovirus of the Flaviviridae family; it is transmitted by mosquitos such as Aedes aegypti and A. albopictus. The clinical manifestations vary according to the characteristics of the host. The virus has four serotypes. The infection can be asymptomatic or can manifest with fever, (dengue fever), malaise, arthralgia and a cutaneous eruption; sometimes a severe form is present (febrile hemorrhagic dengue).
