ABSTRACT

In contrast to the major improvement in immunologically mediated allograft loss, little advances have been made in the area of recurrent glomerular disease which currently stands as the third leading cause of renal allograft loss. This chapter will focus on the current status of recurrent glomerular disease in kidney transplant recipients. The epi demiology, risk factors and implications of recurrent disease on graft survival will be discussed collectively. This will be followed by individual review of recurrent glomerulo-nephritides with special attention to predictors and management of recurrent disease. When appropriate, prevention of disease recurrence will also be discussed.
