wide. In the Far East and Africa, this tumor has a reported incidence of 150 per 100,000 population. In the United States, hepatocellular carcinoma represents less than 2% of all tumors and has an incidence of 1-4 cases per 100,000 population. However, the incidence of hepatocellular carcinoma is increasing both in the United States and in other countries, mainly as a consequence of hepatitis C.
