ABSTRACT
Novd dements, found to encode most of the appropriate region of the RT protein, were added to the alignment previously produced by Tristem. 1 Elements were added sequentially, in decreasing order of similarity to the dement used in the TBLASTN search. This was done until a known member of another family was found. Space constraints and the length of time required to build the resultant phylogenies meant that, generally, a maximum of five taxa were added to each family. Hence the number of dements presented in the phylogenies bdow is not exhaustive.
