ABSTRACT

Introduction This chapter serves as a gathering place for a diverse group of mature В, T and

NK-cell neoplasms that have prominent involvement of the peripheral blood (PB) and bone marrow (BM ). Lymphomas predominantly arise in the lymph nodes (LNs) but can arise in other organs (extranodal lymphomas). Almost all lymphomas may involve the PB and/or BM, especially when they are advanced. A general discussion of these lymphomas can be found in the chapter on evalua tion of the BM for lymphoma. In the W H O classification scheme, the neoplasms discussed in this chapter are designated under the categories of “Mature B-Cell Neoplasms” and “Mature T-Cell and NK-Cell Neoplasms” (Table 9.1). Chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) is the most common of these, while the others are rare. A ll primarily affect adults.
