ABSTRACT
Introduction Radioisotopes play an important role in the diagnosis of benign and malignant
bone lesions. Bone scanning is commonly used to detect metastases from malignant tumors because it is more sensitive than x-rays and allows the whole body to be surveyed. The general principles of skeletal imaging are reviewed in Chapter 7. This Chapter will concentrate on aspects specific to bone tumors.
