Nimal Senanayake Reflex epilepsies encompass epilepsies in which seizures are regularly provoked

by a specific stimulus or event. Among the reflex epilepsies, photosensitive epilepsy (PSE) where visual stimuli trigger seizures, is the most extensively studied.1"4 A vari­ ety of other ‘external stimuli’ such as auditory, vestibular, olfactory, gustatory, and somatosensory, as well as ‘internal’ stimuli such as visceral and cognitive functions are also known to precipitate seizures.5
