ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses applications of the kinetics principles developed in the previous chapter. We consider rolling motion, mechanical trail, impulsive loads, and impact, as well as impulse-momentum and work-energy principles. The concepts of equations of motion and equilibrium are introduced, together with equilibrium. Linearization of the equations of motion about equilibrium is discussed. Motion in the vicinity of the Earth is studied. An expanded analysis of impact is presented, together with applications from sports.
