ABSTRACT
Introduction The interventional radiologist performs many procedures which facilitate the
diagnosis and treatment of patients being cared for by the hepatobiliary surgeon. Procedures may be diagnostic, therapeutic, or palliative. A close working relation ship between the hepatobiliary surgeon and the interventional radiologist benefits both doctors and patients, and is best accomplished in the background of a team comprised of surgeons, gastroenterologists, radiologists and appropriate medical spe cialists such as oncologists and hepatologists.
