ABSTRACT

Intracardiac ultrasound device The commonly used intracardiac imaging catheters include 10 MHz, 10 F. or 20 MHz, 8 F. CVIS rotating mirror catheters and 12.5 MHz rotating crystal catheters (Scimed, Boston Scientific Co., Natick, MA, USA). They are mechanically rotated at 600-1800 rpm to provide 360° cross-sectional images via an ultrasound console. Electronic catheters are seldom used in intracardiac imaging because of their technical limitations. In experi mental studies, Schwartz et al.11 and Seward et al.12 used a small, 5 MHz TEE transducer which was advanced into the right atrium to obtain images of the heart, namely transvascular ultrasound.1112
