ABSTRACT
A multielement phased array with an integrated circuit for initial echo-data processing at the catheter tip was described in 1989.22 This design allows a reduction in the number of electrical wires and thus a smaller-size catheter with better flexibility. The introduction of a movable guide wire would offer advantages during catheterization.
