ABSTRACT
This chapter provides an overview of how medical devices are
regulated worldwide. It also introduces fundamental concepts,
definitions and terminology that the reader needs to become
familiar with to be able to understand medical device regulations.
Basic regulatory processes are introduced at a general level, before
dealing with them in greater detail in later chapters.
