ABSTRACT

After reading through this book and practising the questions, you should have a good understanding of how research works, how to evaluate research and how to calculate some important statistics. This book is not a comprehensive introduction to statistics, research methods or even evidence-based practice; rather, its aim is to get you through the AKT and, it is to be hoped, to inspire you to become an evidence-based practitioner. Being able to appropriately use evidence and knowing when to look for evidence are two fundamental skills for GPs. If you can use evidence in conjunction with good communication, you will be able to provide better care to your patients.
