THE CARE APPROACH AS A TWO-WAY PROCESS What is no doubt also obvious to you by now is that the CARE Approach is not something that you ‘do’ to the patient; rather, it is a two-way process that is all about your interaction with the patient. If you are with a patient that you get on with very easily, it is likely that you both connected at fi rst glance (maybe when you went to call the patient in the waiting room and made eye contact), perhaps because you already know each other well from previous encounters or you have instantly ‘clicked’, as discussed in Module 2, ‘Connecting’.
