ABSTRACT

It is clear from Chapters 8 to 14 that the preparation of radioactive NPs requires their manipulation. Moreover, the in vivo evaluation of labelled NPs is usually performed in laboratory animals as a first step. Indeed, a large proportion of the published literature on radiolabelled NPs reports studies conducted in small rodents (rats or mice) using a combination of different imaging modalities. In order to provide morphological information, positron emission tomography (PET) or single-proton emission computed tomography (SPECT) are usually combined with anatomical techniques such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) or computerised tomography (CT). Combining different imaging modalities has also recently gained attention thanks to the development of multi-modal imaging probes, most of which are based on NPs.
