ABSTRACT

An open label, non-randomized study 1 evaluated the effectiveness of tranexamic acid and aminocaproic acid in the palliative treatment of tumor-associated bleeding. Sixteen patients with tumor associated bleeding were included in the study. Patients received either tranexamic acid or aminocaproic acid depending on which agent was available in the institution. Improvement of bleeding was observed in 15 of the patients while complete cessation was noted in 14 patients. The average time period to improvement was two days while it took an average of four days for complete bleeding cessation. Recurrence of bleeding occurred in 3 patients.
